Front Page!

This weekend I spent time with my parents, sisters and their families. We had a bit of a party for the Royal Wedding. I even dressed up for a short time in my wedding dress, but looked more like a pantomine dame than a blushing bride! My daughter has become a bit of a wedding obsessive now and we've had to buy several magazines so she can have a look at the happy couple in many different photos.

This weekend I actually made it to the Front Page of Etsy for the first time since last November, thanks to Kimiko611. I was an alternate in her treasury and had a few moments of extra exposure with this Blueberry Pearl Cluster Bracelet.

Treasuries

I realised today that I'm in over 600 treasuries. Which is amazing! Some of them are very beautiful and I'm so flattered to be in so many.

However, it also struck me that I'm rarely featured on the Front Page. In fact, checking craftcult, I've been on the front page a total of 26 times since they started The Vault in 2009.(I think)

The interesting thing for me was to find that I made the FP 7 times last year, while I made it 19 times in 2009.

So what has changed? My photos are better now if anything. I'm featured several times a day in new treasuries.

So could all those hundreds of threads in the Etsy forums about FP favouritism for certain curators/sellers be right?

A very old thread by AREjewellery from April 2009 was resurrected this week in which she did an analysis of the FP over a 24 hour period. And guess what, things haven't changed at all in the almost 2 years since that thread was written.

Thankfully I don't and never have relied on front page exposure, or any type of exposure such as being featured in the Storque or an Etsy Finds email for sales, as I am one of those many thousands of Etsians who still sell without admins support. However wouldn't it be nice if admin just admitted that favouritism is alive and well on Etsy.

Friday Round Up

I woke up this morning to find out that I'd been on the Front Page of Etsy last night! This doesn't happen very often so it was lovely to wake up to. Thanks to VintageDreamsShop for featuring my Turquoise and Lime Pearl Cluster Bracelet

Unfortunately as I was an alternate, I couldn't get a screen shot that included the bracelet on craft cult :)

I had my craft fair at Jamies school last night. I'd made lots of girls jewellery, necklaces and pearl bracelets and was really pleased at how well I did. To be honest, it was lovely to make things that are different from my usual online items and it's encouraged me to do another fair in the run up to Christmas.

Because I've been working on things for the craft fair, I've not listed much new in my shop, though I've listed this Grey Pearl and Blue Crystal Antiqued Silver Necklace


I've also got a few Christmas Baubles listed, including this Mistletoe Berries Christmas Bauble

YAY! My treasury made the front page on Etsy today -



For those who wonder does curating a FP bring increased views/sales the answer is a resounding no. I got about 20 shop views for the hour that the treasury was on the FP LOL.

Thanks to the lovely HeartshapedCreations treasury, my Silver Pearls Memory Wire Bracelet made the Front Page of Etsy this morning! Of course I missed it, but thanks to the brilliant Vault on craftcult I've been able to see it.

I was delighted the other morning to log on and see my treasury on Etsys front page. My whole mindset has moved onto spring, even with the wind and snow outside, and this one was shades of duck egg blue.

Thanks to Mondays Featured Seller AREjewellery, who is one of the best treasury makers around, one of my bracelets made it to Etsys front page last night. My Blueberry Bubbles Bracelet was an alternate, that got featured when there was a sale.

You know the saying, a watched pot never boils? Well, a watched shop rarely sells. So when I went away overnight on saturday night and was without internet access, I made the Front Page and 4 sales!

Thanks to the lovely PaisleyChainsaw I was featured on Etsys front page again on Sunday evening. This is the third time I've made the front page recently in one of her treasuries, so thank you so much!



I was lucky enough to log on a few minutes before the front page changed so managed to catch my 5 minutes of fame! The bracelet featured got an amazing 30 new hearts and over 300 views, which was brilliant!

Well I said before that I believe things come in 3's and it turns out right again!

I made the Front Page of Etsy again over the weekend. This time it was in this gorgeous tresury made by PaisleyChainsaw. I had been an alternate in the treasury but made it to the FP when something sold.


I've also decided to have a sale section of some older stock in my etsy shop, so please check it out!

I was delighted to wake up to increased views and hearts on Tuesday morning as a result of making the Front Page in this gorgeous treasury by RecycleRabbit. My memory wire bracelet is on the left hand side of the second row.



A couple of weeks ago I had signed up to the
Statsy Featurator which will send you an email letting you know when you are featured on the Front Page. Sure enough, I got an email letting me know. I'm going to do a blog post dedicated just to the Statsy site as it's full of really fun and interesting data!

As these things seem to go, after appearing on the FP my latest treasury made it to the Front Page last night too - and even better I was logged on and saw it! Thanks to Clare from ClareBears for getting the screenshot for me.
